Culture

In a highly diverse society, cultural literacy is an essential tool for living together in harmony, and dialogic teaching may be a way to promote and develop it among children and adolescents. Cultural literacy as a set of attitudes (inclusion, tolerance, and empathy) and skills (dialogic argumentation) needed to understand others in our everyday lives. In Cameroon, the concept of a Culture of Peace is rooted in the values, belief systems and forms of spirituality, local knowledge and technologies, traditions and forms of cultural and artistic expression that contribute to the respect of human rights, cultural diversity, solidarity and the rejection of violence to build democratic societies. In Fako division there has been a steady decline of cultural literacy among youths due to the infiltration of western culture on most media platforms. It is on this backdrop that the Duke’s foundation will be organizing a cultural literacy competition among schools in Fako division to revive the Mopkwe cultural identity, through traditional dance and quiz in schools.
The Foundation has collaborated with (Soft Touch) a renowned artist who sang in the Mokwe dialect on the preventive measures of COVID 19. The foundation has equally carried out awareness campaigns in local dialect( Bakweri Language) in Presbyterian church’s in the Fako North Presbytery.
