About Us

The Duke Lisinge Foundation

The George Ngomba Lisinge’s Foundation (The Duke’s Foundation) headquartered in Buea-Cameroon was created in May 5th, 2020, in honour of late Mola Ngomba George Lisinge who was the pioneer pharmacist in the Buea municipality. The person under whom the foundation was named had a vision for Education, Health and sustainable cultural promotion for all. He had a special interest in the education of the African Girl Child.

The Foundation has a special interest in the education of the African girl child, and works in collaboration with schools to provide education grants. It places special emphasis on helping girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Money also helps to provide better hygiene conditions for young girls and bursary assistance to support them to stay in school.

Our Activities

Education

The  covid-19  and ongoing Anglophone conflict in Cameroon, has affected economic activities in the two English speaking regions, and has  caused  frequent lock downs, lay-offs by employers, increase in the prices of basic goods and services and as a result of this, there’s a high levels of unemployment, there’s no farming and there is a high rate of school dropouts by young girls in the rural areas.

Health

In the last four years there have been an ongoing conflict in Cameroon’s two English speaking regions (Anglophone crisis), while this is under control. The consequences of the anglophone crisis the North West and South West regions of Cameroon have been enormous. Over 35,000 displaced including Vulnerable young girls and youths, have lost their livelihood and as a result some women and young girls do not have access to good health services.

Culture

In a highly diverse society, cultural literacy is an essential tool for living together in harmony, and dialogic teaching may be a way to promote and develop it among children and adolescents.

Cultural literacy as a set of attitudes (inclusion, tolerance,and empathy) and skills (dialogic argumentation) needed to understand others in our everyday lives.
